Annual Award Nominations

Again this year, the Shelton–Mason County Chamber is excited to recognize members of our community for their efforts. Any community member may submit a nomination. Nominations for the annual awards will be accepted until 5:00 PM on September 20, 2019. Nominations submitted after that time will not be considered.

You may submit one nomination per category. Please keep in mind that nominees will be evaluated on guidelines listed below; not every nominee will be included on the annual awards ballot.

Nominations that do not meet the criteria and/or those without contact information will not be considered (contact information will be used by Chamber staff to reach you; anonymity will be maintained for all public purposes).

Nomination Guidelines

Business of the Year recognizes the company that made the most significant contribution benefiting the Shelton and Mason County business community. Any size business is eligible; recognition will be given overall contributions to improving our community and/or business climate. This business must be a member in good standing of the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce and should be headquartered in Mason County:

  • Leading with vision, inspiration, and integrity
  • Building partnerships
  • Succeeding through people
  • Nurturing creativity and innovation
  • Adding value for customers
  • Sponsorship/presentation of events or programs
  • Hours or services dedicated to community activities/efforts

Rookie of the Year celebrates a business who has opened a storefront or began operation within the past 24 months. The recipient should fulfill a gap in services/retail/operations and benefit the Mason County community at large. This business should be headquartered in Mason County and must be a member in good standing. Evaluations may be made on the following criteria:

  • Contributing to economic vitality
  • Adding value for customers
  • Hours or services dedicated to community activities/efforts
  • Leading with vision, inspiration, and integrity
  • Building partnerships
  • Succeeding through people
  • Nurturing creativity and innovation

Boss of the Year recognizes and individual who empowers employees, is an example of leadership and management excellence, and maintains excellent employer-employee relations. The honoree must represent a Chamber member business. Nominations may only be made be made by an individual who works for the nominee.Evaluations may be made on the following criteria:

  • Leading with vision, inspiration, and integrity
  • Building partnerships
  • Succeeding through people
  • Nurturing creativity and innovation

Citizen of the Year recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to enhance the business community and the community at large. This person gives freely of their time, talent, energy and expertise. This person must either live or work in Mason County. Evaluations may be made on the following criteria:

  • Leading with vision, inspiration, and integrity
  • Building partnerships
  • Succeeding through people
  • Nurturing creativity and innovation
  • Contributions made to community activities/efforts
  • Involvement with special programs
  • Service to local non-profits or boards

Community Supporter of the Year recognizes a nonprofit organization who strongly impacts Mason County through service, volunteerism, donations (monetarily and/or in-kind), and activism. This organization must be a member in good standing of the Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce and should be headquartered in Mason County. Evaluations may be made on the following criteria:

  • Leading with vision, inspiration, and integrity
  • Building partnerships
  • Succeeding through people
  • Nurturing creativity and innovation
  • Contributions made to community activities/efforts
  • Involvement with special programs
