The Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce will be conducting its second Trade
Mission and Familiarization Tour to China with two departures one on April 1, 2008 and April
3, 2008. Through a special partnership with Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce and
CITSLINC International Inc., this experience is available to all chamber members, their friends
and families for $1,700 per person, based on double occupancy. This nine day trip includes
round trip international air fare, 4-5 star hotel accommodations in China, three meals per day,
pre-arranged business meeting, deluxe bus tours, English speaking tour guides, admission to all
tourist spots and airport taxes throughout the trip in China. Day one will include afternoon bus
transportation to hotel in Vancouver, BC and traveler will be responsible for making reservations
and the cost of over night accommodations in Vancouver, BC.
The eight days you will spend in China are fun, exciting and a great educational experience for people of all ages. You will arrive at the Vancouver, BC airport no later than
9:00 am for a late morning fl ight to Beijing, China. You will be placed into groups no larger
than twenty-fi ve people and assigned an English speaking local tour guide. You will visit the cities of Beijing, Suzhou,Hangzou and Shanghai. In each city there are several opportunities to sightsee and shop. In Beijing you will visit the Great
Wall of China, Tian An Men Square and Palace Museum. In Suzhou you will visit Tiger Hall, Lingering Gardens and Hanshan Temple. In Hangzou you will see and visit Lingyin Temple and take a boat ride on West Lake. While in Shanghai you will visit Yu Garden and Bund. There is a $25 (US currency) gratuity due in country, this will be paid to your tour guide upon arrival in Beijing, China.
There will be several opportunities for optional tours such as a Hutong Tour in Beijing, Boat Excursions, Peaking Opera and a Dynasty Show in Hangzou. These tours are available to travelers for various fees, not exceeding $40 per person.
If you want to visit the Terra-cotta Warriors you can. Instead of going to Hangzou and Suzhou you will take an additional fl ight to Xian the location of China's fi rst emperors Tomb and the Terra-cotta Warriors. This once in a lifetime opportunity is an additional $450 for all amenities.
China is on a similar latitude as we are, the weather there is similar. We recommend
that you dress in layers. As far as attire... casual comfortable clothing and walking shoes are
recommended. If you plan to attend a business meeting formal business attire is required. Your
luggage should weigh no more than 50 lbs per bag with a maximum of two bags (100 lbs) and
you will be allowed to have one carry on. Please do not forget, when you are packing, that you
will need space to bring items that you purchase or obtain while in China home.
It is highly recommended that you do not carry much cash on you while traveling especially out of country. It is recommended that you carry a major credit card instead of cash and you can utilize ATM's located in the Chinese hotels as needed.
